Viewing Album:  What Is Left of the Illinois Central in Minnesota

Album Info:This will be a project I will revisit more once the weather improves but in this album I will document the only active former Illinois Central line in southern MN from Lyle, MN near the Iowa border to Albert Lea, MN and London and Myrtle, MN in between. It goes south from there to Waterloo, IA with a wye to Toeterville and Stacyville, IA. The line is out of service from London to Albert Lea so the future of it is uncertain but I will take pictures of what remains before CN decides to either tear the track up or use it in case a new customer pops up in Albert Lea or Glenville. I may visit the Southwestern part of Minnesota later on to look for what remains of the IC's line from Northwestern Iowa to Sioux Falls, SD which has been abandoned and likely torn up for many years.

The day finally came

Description:  For 15 years I have dreamed of getting shots of IC power on IC track in Minnesota. Today the day finally came thanks to my good friend Greenwood giving me a heads up that SD70 1018 was on CNs Osage sub. Initially we thought 1018 was just bringing up a plow but it turns out it was doing work on the Cedar River Railroad, which was a huge blessing today!
